“The reception was more than top. The car got stuck in the rain and our clumsiness. No problem at all. After trying in the pouring rain, we got tea by the fireplace. After half an hour, our host had everything ready to release the car. Our host knew a lot about history and the environment. Because it’s a little remote, you can have dinner. Choose from 3 regional dishes, also cosy by the fireplace. Room top clear. Delicious casual and we felt very welcome. The area is great for hiking, also for the less experienced hiker.”Alexander, The Netherlands
“The House of Marks is a very old building, beautifully done from the outside and very lovingly and comfortably furnished inside. Here you are at the foot of two mountains, completely cut off from everything (far and wide only nature). It is quiet and very nice. If you want to switch off from everything, appreciate the rural idyll and like to move in the nature, this is absolutely the place! The host Ian is a very friendly, open person who gives you great tips for your trip and with whom you can have a great conversation. The dinner and the breakfast were really delicious!”Chiara, Austria
“A Fairy tale. The accommodation and the whole environment, the garden, the landscape, the location is so natural. The atmosphere of the accommodation / room is absolutely amazing. I can only recommend it to anyone who would get a little out of everyday life!”Anna, Hungary
“This was definitely our best accommodation during our 14 days Scotland trip. Ian is a perfect host and the rooms are very individual. Nothing for people who need a tv in their room, but absolutely perfect for people who can enjoy total nature. We will definitely come back, when we will travel again to Scotland.”Christian, Germany
“The host welcomes you in a friendly and welcoming manner. The room is clean and tidy, there is a little fire in the lounge, the bathroom is comfortably furnished with a tub and clean. In the evening, there is a freshly prepared delicious dinner in a large round with all guests, in the morning freshly made breakfast on request.”Andrea, Germany
“Ian very kind and helpful. Right on walking path by north Esk river on route to Queens Well, Mount Keen and set in pine trees, floral vines, with sheep and n.g. hens zooming around. Sunny. Lovely Dining room with linen, china, good food. Our room was a haven of quiet and antiques with a clean well cared for modern bathroom.Sandy, Canada
