  • We’ve just come back from spending a weekend in this idyllic spot and in a lovely Victorian style house with the most delightful hosts we have ever stayed with. Nothing was too much trouble for June or Ian, we had tea and June’s very special home-made lemon drizzle cake on our arrival, and there was a good variety of teas and coffee available, in our room. The room was large with an ensuite bathroom and a big comfy bed and sofa in the room for relaxation, with views over one of the lawns, which had guinnea fowl wandering around as well as numerous wild birds and the rare red squirrels. We had beautiful dinners in the evenings, with a choice of starters, main course and desserts. They were the best we have tasted in a very long while and generous proportions, ideal for hillwalkers and bikers, alike! Breakfasts were equally superb and the choice only limited by our imagination! Even a choice of eggs – something for everyones’ taste.. I enjoyed walks up to and part way round the Loch and also to the Queens Well while my husband Maurice enjoyed cycling around the Glen. We went to the Retreat which is nearby in the Glen and enjoyed traditional music which was supplied by a group of young musicialns. They also have a museum, gift shop and tea room. The Glen was made even more beautiful by the kindness of June and Ian and their attention to detail. They also have two gorgeous very friendly black Labradors! We shall be visiting them again for definite, not sure when but hope it wont be too far away. Go on, treat yourself, you know you deserve it! Eileen and Maurice Frost PS: they were preparing for a wedding party when we left, an ideal location for a wedding on the lawn, think we might book it for our next big Wedding Anniversary in two year’s time!
